Senior Scientist
Harold Murphy has extensive management and technical expertise in sustainable
developments in Fisheries and Aquaculture including environmental assessments
and protection requirements. International experience in resource development
and technology transfer purposes have enhanced his knowledge of other countries,
international trade and the global economy. His supervisory and management
skills enable him to handle a wide variety of responsibilities.
Previously, he
worked in various programs with the Federal and Provincial Governments,
implementing fishery research and development projects. He was appointed to the
position of Assistant Deputy Minister with the provincial Department of
Fisheries, a position he held for a twelve-year period. |

Tim Anderson, B.Sc.
Fisheries Biologist
Tim
Anderson has had over 35 years experience in various aspects of
fisheries in Newfoundland and Labrador. From a freshwater
perspective, he has extensive experience in all aspects of salmonid
research and, in 1985, he published ‘The Rivers of Labrador’, a
389 page Special Publication of the Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic
Sciences. As a fish habitat manager with the Department of
Fisheries and Oceans he initiated the development of a freshwater and
marine habitat inventory. Also with the Department of Fisheries
and Oceans he oversaw the implementation of the Oceans Program in
Newfoundland and Labrador. Key milestones in the program included
designation of two Marine Protected Areas, establishment of a Marine
Environmental Quality Program and identification of Large Oceans
Management Areas. Following retirement from the Department of
Fisheries and Oceans in 2006 he has worked as an Independent Consultant
on a wide range of projects involving fish and fish habitat in
Newfoundland and Labrador. In both 2007 and 2008 he was employed
directly by Sikumiut Environmental Management Ltd. to undertake both
freshwater and marine investigations related to the proposed development
of uranium by Aurora Energy Resources Inc. in northern Labrador.

Gordon E. Beanlands, Ph.D.
Environmental
Management Specialist
Dr. Beanlands is one of the most competent and experienced environmental
management specialists in Canada. He has extensive experience in the
technical and procedural aspects of environmental assessment, both in
Canada and internationally. He has been a technical advisor, member or
chair for a number of environmental assessment review panels at the
national and provincial levels in Canada. He has acted as senior advisor
on environmental management, protection and monitoring matters to
governments of developed and developing countries, international
financial institutions, bilateral development agencies and international
corporations. He has designed and delivered technical training courses
on various aspects of environmental protection and management and
related fields in over 15 developing countries. He has managed large and
complex international development projects. In his capacity as a
university professor, he has taught and supervised students of
environmental management at the graduate level and has published widely
in refereed journals. He has been instrumental in the development of a
unique approach to integrating environmental screening with financial
appraisal procedures in microfinance lending. |

Bobbie Boland, MSW
Bobbie is a social researcher and has been involved
with socio economic monitoring with Sikumiut. Bobbie offers skills and
knowledge in the areas of research design, gender analysis, training,
evaluation and facilitation of processes for large and small
groups. Bobbie has worked in the social work field for over 30 years
and for the past 15 years has worked as a consultant with a varied
client group including NGOs and all levels of government provincially
and nationally. |
